Who we are

Easy PC Lessons is run by Blueboot. We are responsible for your personal information under UK data protection law. If you have a question about your data, email hello@easypclessons.com.

What we collect and why

If you create an account

• Your email address, and your first name if you give it. So you can sign in, and so we can send you account emails. We need this to provide the account you asked for.
• Your password, stored only in a scrambled form that we cannot read or turn back into your password.
• Sign-in records. When you sign in we keep a record of that sign-in, with the internet (IP) address and type of browser it came from, for as long as you stay signed in (up to 30 days). We use this to keep accounts secure.

Emails we send

Only emails about your account: confirming your email address, and resetting your password when you ask. We don’t send newsletters or marketing.

If you don’t create an account

• Course feedback is anonymous. We don’t record your name, email or internet address with it. Please don’t include personal details in your comments.
• Lesson progress, if you choose to save it, stays in your web browser on your own device. It isn’t sent to us. You can clear it from a lesson’s Lesson menu.
• Protecting the site. We briefly use your internet address to stop too many attempts in a short time, for example at sign-in. This is held in memory for a short while and not stored.

Cookies

We only use cookies that keep you signed in and protect the sign-in process. They are needed for the account to work, so we don’t ask for permission. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of companies to run the service. They only handle your data on our instructions.

• Hetzner Online hosts the website and the account database, in Germany.
• MXroute sends our account emails.
• Backblaze stores our backup copies of the account database, in the United States.

We don’t share your details with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

• Your account: until you delete it.
• Sign-in records: until you sign out or after 30 days.
• Password reset links: one hour. Email confirmation links: 24 hours.
• Backup copies: 30 days. After you delete your account, it disappears from our backups within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can delete your account yourself from your account page. For anything else, email hello@easypclessons.com and we’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we use your data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
